The Third Eye Chakra

Agya Chakra is located at the junction where the line drawn from the two ears meets the line drawn from the centre of the two eye brows.

Structure of the pituitary gland

This gland is located above the optic chiasm, which is where the optic nerves leading from the eyes meet. It consists of an anterior and posterior lobe, which secrete different hormones.

Pituitary gland function

It is the main gland in the body that, by releasing its hormones, controls the secretion of hormones from other endocrine glands. At the body level, regulation occurs primarily from the hypothalamus, which is located above it and sends its messages to the bloodstream and nervous system. The hypothalamus receives information from various areas of the brain that are responsible for the normal functions of the body. This information includes temperature, emotions, sleep, defense mechanisms, thirst, sexual needs and hunger. If it detects that there has been a deviation from the normal value, the message travels down to the pituitary gland and its hormones are released.

These hormones circulate in the blood system until they reach their desired target. This may be another endocrine gland, such as the thyroid, adrenal glands, ovaries and testicles, or a specific organ such as the breasts, uterus or kidneys. The imbalance detected by the hypothalamus is corrected by chemical and hormonal processes; this correction is fed back to the hypothalamus via a feedback system, which then stops the secretion of hormones from the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus is one of the original parts of the sympathetic nervous system, part of the autonomic nervous system. The sympathetic is the originator of the "fight or flight" response, described in the chapter on the base chakra.

From an esoteric perspective, it appears that while the hypothalamus is the main gland that controls the physical body, the pituitary gland, due to its connection with the pineal gland, is the main regulatory device between spirit and matter and is therefore related to the third eye.

Integrating functions of the third eye

We have discussed how the energies of the lower chakras, representing the personality, receive and merge with the energies of the higher chakras, representing the soul. These processes are controlled by the third eye. In other words, this center is focused on the unification of the soul and personality and, in general, on the unification of all manifestations of duality. This mission is symbolically expressed by the two lobes of the pituitary gland. The third eye also unifies the most important aspects of creation. It receives a stimulus from the crown center, which is an expression of the will of the soul, and creates a statement that expresses the intention to create in accordance with this will.

The intention then moves to the throat chakra, the center for expressing creativity. In this way, the third eye serves as a mediator between the will and the creative force and can be considered the area of desire or love of the soul. Therefore, in this chakra we find all three qualities of the original

Sources: will, love, and creative intelligence, which together lead to the materialization of form, which is a mixture of spirit and matter.

The third eye has two arms (symbolized by the two lobes of the pituitary gland); one represents spirit and the other matter . Both are connected to the central life force that flows between the crown and base chakras. This triad represents the cross on which a person finds himself when he combines the power of personality and soul and begins to understand the realities of the Grand Plan.

Spiritual aspect: responsibility for oneself

The word responsibility comes from the French "spondere", which means to guarantee or promise; the whole word has the meaning of promising something again. Esoterically, this suggests that there is an inner commitment to manifest the stimulus from the higher self in the physical body and to accept the response to this manifestation as a means of soul growth. This symbolizes the response of the pituitary gland to higher stimuli, releasing its hormones and the response to feedback from other endocrine glands, to which it adapts the secretion of hormones.

Many people are very responsible towards others, but their own soul needs can be very unfulfilled. In fact, they use their responsibility as a means to avoid their soul's path (throat chakra).

The most important component of responsibility is learning to perceive the impulses of the soul and fulfill its needs.

Promptings come in the form of inspiration or intuition and can be ignored if they are drowned out by the emotional feelings of the personality. Your intuition speaks only to you. Emotional feelings or instincts come from past experiences or the collective consciousness. This means that they cannot be specific and can lead you down the wrong path.

Trusting your own intuition often means trying alone without the support of society. Many great Masters have followed this journey, as have many men and women who have significantly changed the course of world history over the centuries.

I myself learned to trust my intuition by acting on it if I heard the same message twice. Now, for me, once is enough in most cases! Listening to intuition does not guarantee an easy life, but it certainly makes it more interesting and leads us to expand our soul consciousness.

When you learn to receive these impulses, the next point is your willingness to realize them in the physical world. Conflict can occur in the throat chakra area. However, if you begin to trust your intuition, the influence of the soul will increase and the path of the impulse through the throat chakra will become easier.

This is the first step in fulfilling the promise you made to yourself. The second step is to respond to the feedback in a way that increases understanding and wisdom. (In the digestive tract, we can compare this step to absorption and assimilation.) It is much easier to let experiences come unconsciously and ignore the lessons they bring.

Other times, we get caught up in emotions or set up a belief system that is focused on a particular experience rather than the message it brings. We can only move forward by objectively analyzing the resulting state, and that is the second stage of fulfilling our promise.

The third eye allows us to have an overview of the situation and receive input from above.

This eye can be said to look in three directions: Upward to the crown chakra and the impulses of the soul; down to the base chakra and the functions of the other chakras; and out through the physical eyes to the world of realizations.

OTHER CHAKRAS

What we see is what we have created; we not only receive stimuli with our eyes, but we also help to transmit them.

Emotions associated with the third eye

Rejection of the soul's input at any level of the chakra system can lead to imbalance in the third eye area. This is because what we see with our physical eyes in the outside world does not reflect the images created by the third eye. This results in imbalance, disorientation, and confusion. The most common cause of the problem is that a person is working exclusively on the personality level, trying to overcome insecurity, lack of confidence, the need to be needed, a feeling of being unloved, loss of control , and other ego issues. The only way to restore balance is to realize that we have been ignoring the soul's images, to stop and take stock of the situation.

In many cases, there is a temporary visual disturbance that symbolizes internal confusion. This happens because the mind cannot handle two different images and tries to shut one of them down to restore balance. (This also happens in children who squint and muscle incoordination causes two images to reach the brain. In an attempt to restore balance, the nerve impulses from one eye shut down and the eye stops working.

If the good eye is not quickly covered and the activity in the other eye is thus stimulated, his physical ability to see would be lost forever.) Similarly, some compromise must be found between the two images—one of the soul and one of the personality—before one of them is permanently shut down. If a conscious decision is not made, the compromise solution may take the form of mental or physical illness to help restore balance. Something must change before further confusion and stress occur. This may be a period of meditation or quiet solitude and reflection on the journey we have already traveled.

Body language

A common sign that someone is too sensitive to see the world as it really is is wearing dark glasses, having their hair fall over their eyes, or covering their eyes with their hands. Essentially, these people are hiding because they believe that harmony cannot be achieved in the outside world. They are also often very sensitive to criticism and feel vulnerable when people get too close to them. They avoid eye contact, look down at the ground or over your shoulder, believing that the mask they have put on will protect them from prying eyes.

These symptoms are closely linked to the solar plexus and self-esteem issues and are, like acne, very common during adolescence (self-loathing). People with these symptoms need to be reassured that everything is fine and that they don't have to hide anymore. They can then discover that the world is not so threatening and that they can walk in it with confidence and not just stare at the ground. Some diseases associated with the third eye

1) Pressure headaches

They are related to the connection between the throat chakra and the third eye and usually appear when a person takes on more than they can handle, because they only listen to their personality needs and ignore their intuition. Tension and pressure can rise from the neck and shoulder area, which means that a person is "taking on" too much responsibility and not paying attention to their own needs.

Taking the time to look within and objectively reassess the situation often leads to shedding unnecessary burdens that are not our responsibility, giving us the freedom to move forward on our path.

2) Migraine

This type of headache is related to changes in the blood supply to the head and brain. Initially, the blood vessels constrict, which leads to sensory changes in the eyes and other parts of the body. This is followed by dilation of the blood vessels, which causes headaches, sensitivity to light, and possibly nausea and vomiting. There are many things that can trigger a migraine, such as chocolate, cheese, red wine, coffee, late at night, too much sleep, stress, and problems with the cervical spine.

If the problems are long-lasting, all these things should be avoided. From a psychological and spiritual point of view, it can be observed that headaches are much more common in conscientious workers who keep their problems to themselves. There is a strong similarity in this with the personality type that is prone to duodenal ulcers. This partly connects migraine with the solar plexus and the tendency to please others.

Children can experience abdominal migraines, which are characterized by nausea and abdominal pain. These conscientious children usually need to be reassured over and over again that they are loved for who they are and not for what they do. Many people experience migraines on weekends or at the beginning of a vacation. This is partly due to the relaxation that allows the subconscious to express itself, and partly to the fact that people of this type only feel useful when they are working. Therefore, rest is a major stressor for them.

It is often very difficult for them to be spontaneous and relaxed, which is evidenced by the fact that for some people migraines occur during orgasm, which is a state of complete relaxation! People who suffer from migraines should realize what they are really responsible for and not act accordingly to please others. They should also learn to act spontaneously at least sometimes!

3) Vision problems

There are countless such problems, but often their names indicate where there may be an imbalance on a psychological and spiritual level.

A) Myopia

It mostly relates to a state of mind as well as vision. It indicates a tendency to be too caught up in the petty concerns of everyday life and a fear of looking into the future.

B) Far-sighted

It can affect people who live in the past and future and ignore the present. They are afraid to look at what is happening right in front of them. It could turn out that if they looked the truth in the eye, they would have to deal with their fears.

C) Glaucoma

It is a condition where the pressure of the fluid inside the eye increases, which puts pressure on the optic nerves and can lead to blindness. Peripheral vision is affected first, leaving only “tunnel” vision. On a psychological and spiritual level, such limited vision can often be observed in all of these people’s behavior. They can be harsh and intolerant of other people’s needs as a result of many years of personal suffering. I remember a woman who became blind due to glaucoma and had to learn to accept help from others, which she had previously refused. In this way, she learned to love herself and her partner.

D) Cataract (cloudiness)

It is a disease that affects the lens of the eye. This transparent layer allows light to penetrate the sensitive retina, where what we see is recorded through chemical and neurological processes. The lens changes its shape to adapt to the distance of the object we are looking at. On a psychological-spiritual level, this symbolizes the feeling that life is monotonous and dull, and the fear that nothing truly joyful awaits us, and therefore a dark outlook for the future. All these visual disorders can really cause darkness. But in this emptiness, a small light often appears that we had not noticed before. This light is a symbol of the light of the soul.

E) Astigmatism

This is a condition where the curvature of the cornea in both eyes is not symmetrical. It is a congenital defect and indicates that the person has the task of learning to use the third eye associated with intuition and thus find balance.

F) Stains

Doctors see the origin of small black dots in the field of vision in the disturbed function of the intraocular fluid. Esoterically, the eye is connected to the liver, and these dots begin to appear more often when the flow of energy in the liver is disrupted by negative emotions such as anger, resentment and regret. A person simply does not see only “red”, but also “black”. Remove your anger and the black dots will disappear.

4) Upper respiratory tract inflammation and sinus problems

The nose normally produces a secretion that serves to protect the mucous membrane from external influences. Excessive secretion occurs when there is inflammation, whether it is caused by an infection or a reaction to food components or irritants to which the nose and sinuses are hypersensitive. From a spiritual perspective, hypersensitivity is related to the heart chakra and an overactive immune system that needs to be brought into balance. However, there are other connections:

A) Runny nose

It goes to the throat and causes the person to constantly swallow, cough, or have a stuffy throat. Esoterically, it is related to tears that have not been cried; they can be tears of disappointment as well as tears of sadness.

B) Sinusitis (inflammation of the paranasal sinuses)

There are four cavities in the face that amplify the resonance of the voice and relieve pressure on the skull. The maxillary and frontal cavities are most commonly affected by infection or allergy. Esoterically, the maxillary cavities are associated with the throat chakra and feelings of regret and anger caused by the inability to express oneself . The frontal cavity is associated with the third eye and expresses confusion and inner tears when the path forward is unclear. The cavities can be cleared by attending to our feelings and by removing irritants from our environment.

Recommendations on how to harmonize the third eye

1) Learn to use your intuition. It is usually the first thought that comes to mind; the second is usually instinctive.

2) Sit down and meditate or find a quiet place where you can review the experiences of the past day and keep the ones that are helpful - let the rest go.

3) Learn to look at the situation from a different perspective. Look at things from the perspective of your higher self rather than from the perspective of your ego.

4) If things are unclear, realize that it is only the external image that needs to be changed and not the internal reality.

5) Ask yourself if you are keeping the promises you made to the Creator, i.e. whether you are allowing your inner being to fully manifest.

6) Look back on your life and notice whether you are learning from your mistakes or just repeating the same type of behavior over and over again. Decide to change it.

7) The color indigo blue is associated with the third eye. It is the color of the depths of the ocean and the vastness of the night sky. It shows that your creativity has no limits and the only thing limiting it is yourself. Use this color to expand your horizons.

8) See the world as a place of limitless possibilities, where there is room for both work and play.
