This technique is used to sense, perceive various feelings and echoes in your palms before or during the healing touch during Reiki. If the treated being has some physical illness, or disharmony in any area of the energy bodies, we can sense its manifestations emitted from the source of the illness. In Japan, this technique or rather ability is called “Byosen”.
These sensations can be different each time, depending on the nature and severity of the disease. Likewise, the same disharmony can be perceived differently by each therapist. But nevertheless, we can talk about some patterns of sensations:
Detecting a pulsating or piercing movement, stabbing pain, numbness, heat, cold, tingling, pressure, and the like. These sensations in my hands are called “Hibiki” or echo.
Once, during the session of a client, I felt pain in the joint on the back of my hand, and based on that, I was able to diagnose where the problem was. The joint on the thumb is associated with the thoracic spine, where the client had a problem, and also with her thyroid gland, which was enlarged.
After certain exercises, we can sense the causes of diseases (even those that are not yet manifest), their form and duration, and even the time that we must devote to treating this disease. Therefore, if we are sufficiently perceptive when performing Byosen, we can detect the symptoms of diseases before they break out and, with appropriate treatment, prevent them and completely heal them.
Byosen can appear directly in the problem area, but also in another part of the body that communicates with that area of the body. For example, stomach disease often appears in the forehead area; liver problems in the eyes; kidney problems in the ears, etc. After gaining some experience, the Byosen Reikan-ho method can be performed even in the absence of the patient at any distance. We can also use it on ourselves.
Procedure for converting Byosen:
The recipient can sit or lie on a massage table or on a mat on the floor. Assume the Gassho position and connect to the Reiki light. Before a healing session, perform an aura cleansing. Establish contact with the aura of the person being treated. Run your palms along the body. In a place where you feel a strong response, hold your palms and perceive the sensations in your palms.
Hibiki gradually increases until it reaches its peak and then begins to slowly decrease. This cycle can be repeated several times with decreasing intensity. Hold your hands in the position for at least one cycle and then proceed to scan the body further until you find the next affected area and repeat the whole process.
End Byosen after healing the entire body. After the session, cleanse your aura and palms and remain in the Gassho position for a while.
And now some possible explanations for the feelings you may have during byósen:
Attraction means the need to put in energy. The part has less of flow of energy and thereby you feel a pull.
Repulsion indicates a long-term blockage of energy flow - a lot of healing will likely be needed here, and success will be gradual. Lot of negative energy needs to be released.
Pain indicates an over-energizing of the area (which indicates that the blockage is higher up the meridian). Sharp pain usually indicates that the over-energizing is already causing a noticeable problem elsewhere in the system.
Tingling/pins and needles indicate inflammation.
The feeling of warmth in the healer's hands indicates that the client is receiving Reiki through the healer.
Coldness indicates a lack of energy in a given area and is probably the result of a blockage.
The flow shows a positive, balanced state.
