The Crown Chakra is the center that receives the will of the soul and through it, the will of the Creator.
Structure of the pineal gland
The pea-sized gland lies above the third ventricle of the brain. It controls and is controlled by both the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. It has several nerve endings, but their origin or purpose is largely unclear.
Functions of the pineal gland
Until recently, very little was known about this gland, except that it begins to calcify with age. This information was originally used for diagnostic purposes. If there is a lesion (damage) in the brain that affects a certain area, such as a tumor or a blood clot, it will push the gland aside, and this can be observed with the help of an X-ray. However, in the age of modern imaging techniques, this form of diagnosis is no longer necessary. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in understanding the connection between this gland and the rest of the body.
The pineal gland has been said to be the seat of the soul, by some.
It is known that in animals this gland is closely connected to the gonads, where it suppresses sexual functions in the winter months and, conversely, releases sex hormones in the summer months. In humans, the reproductive drive is not influenced by the season, but there are assumptions that the pineal gland is related to the regulation of rhythms within the body, especially those that are associated with the release of hormones.
The main hormone that this gland produces is melatonin.
This is not the only place where it is produced, as it is also found in many other parts of the body. The production of this hormone increases in the dark and decreases in the light. It is therefore associated with problems such as jet lag (biorhythm disorder) and seasonal affective disorder. There are assumptions that its release is also linked to heat, but nothing more precise is known.
Melatonin is synthesized mainly from the amino acid tryptophan, which is the precursor to serotonin and ultimately melatonin. Tryptophan has been used for many years to provide relief from depression and insomnia. Serotonin is a brain neurotransmitter that carries messages from one area to another. Medical studies have shown that disturbances in serotonin levels, both up and down, are associated with Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia. It is not clear whether this phenomenon is a cause or effect, but it is possible that further research will show that the various disorders fall into a single category, differing only in the level of serotonin.
In summary: We know that the pineal gland is sensitive to light and possibly heat. It appears to act as a regulator of both hormone release and the release of certain neurotransmitters responsible for transmitting information in the brain.
From an esoteric point of view , I am convinced that since melatonin is secreted in the dark, i.e. during the night or during meditation, at this time, stimuli from the soul enter the crown chakra into the right cerebral hemisphere and then pass through the nervous system until they somehow manifest themselves. It is like in winter, when nature is surrounded by darkness. However, the seed of life contained in the soul does not cease to shine.
During this time, we reflect on our journey and allow new inspiration to enter our consciousness.
I believe that those who suffer from seasonal depression are unable to find their inner light and rely on the artificial light of the outside world. Another finding related to the pineal gland is that it seems to be influenced by the electromagnetic field and helps us improve our orientation skills. This view was supported by two experiments.
The first case involved a group of people who had gotten lost in Exmoor, Devon, England, and their members had suffered injuries. During subsequent medical examinations, it was discovered by chance that all members of this group had calcified epiphysis. For comparison, a group of patients who had also suffered some injuries, but it was not because they had gotten lost, were x-rayed. In this group, the epiphysis was not calcified.
Hypothetically, it is possible to conclude that the pineal gland allows us to connect to the electromagnetic field and with its help to orient ourselves better. In another experiment, small aquatic animals were used, which also have melatonin in their nervous system. The animals were transported from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean in a magnetically shielded container. When they were released into the water, still inside the magnetic shielding, they swam in circles and around. However, as soon as the magnetic shielding was removed, they immediately began to swim home, towards the Pacific Ocean. From an esoteric point of view, I believe that these two experiments indicate that the pineal gland is sensitive not only to the electromagnetic field of the earth, but also to our inner sun, or our soul.
I am watching with interest how information about this gland is increasing and I believe that many more hormones will be discovered in various parts of the body, related to other endocrine glands and the autonomic nervous system.
Spiritual aspect: self-awareness.
The crown chakra connects us to the free aspect of the Creator (the Light, the source of all life) through a “thread of consciousness” that gives us the will to live, without any conditions or expectations.
This center is most active during infancy, when its energy is becoming established in the physical body. (It is believed that the closing of the fontanelles between 12 and 18 months of age reflects the completion of this process.) Throughout the rest of our lives, and for most of our lives on this planet, we strive to strengthen our connection with the Creator through the development of self-awareness. Only when our soul is fully incarnated in the physical body and expressing itself through the base chakra are we able to fully understand our place in the Grand Plan.
This energy can then be raised to the crown chakra and the vibrations of our soul merge with the vibrations of the Creator, bringing about ultimate reconciliation.
Such highly enlightened beings then express the will of the Creator, not the will of the individual soul. Similar to the heart chakra, this center is underdeveloped in most people. Nevertheless, human consciousness is constantly expanding due to pressure from higher realms of being, which is manifested in an ever-increasing interest in esotericism. If the spiritual connection is poor or the energy of the crown chakra is resisted, a person can lose the will to live, which is one of the symptoms of depression. Self-awareness means knowing and loving yourself in every aspect: mind, body and spirit, and allowing these three parts to become one.
Body language
A person expresses utter despair by placing their hands on the top of their head. They feel disconnected from life and lost. Due to their despair, they are often unable to receive a message from their higher self. These people need unconditional and loving guidance to help them regain their light.
Many religions require their followers to wear a covering on the crown of their heads, as a sign of their awareness of the sacredness of this center. Some diseases associated with the crown chakra
1) Depression
Reactive depression is characterized by a loss of meaning in life. It often occurs after the death of a partner, loss of a job, separation from a partner, or some other event that marks a change in the relationship. It can occur during a period of grief, but especially during a period of confusion and disorientation.
Esoterically, the connection with the “will to be” is bad and the eyes turn away from the light. Yet, as has been said before, it is in the darkness that the light shines most brightly, and whether with or without the help of some therapy to manage depression, there comes a time when the bottom of despair is reached, and then only one path is possible – the path upwards. Every ocean has its bottom, every emotion sometimes reaches its limit and then there is a correction.
How much easier it would be to see the light on the way down than to have to walk that path all the way to the bottom. Some choose not to continue their lives, but premature death means an incomplete incarnation and the soul must return to fulfill its obligation. Some people are prone to depression for most of their lives. Their childhood is often blamed for this, although other children, although raised in similar conditions, do not suffer as much. I believe that in these people the “will to be” is poorly received by the crown chakra and there is an aversion to being on this earth – which may be due to experiences from previous lives. With help and encouragement, these people need to find not only a meaning in life, but also a will to live.
From an esoteric perspective, we cannot blame the world for the conditions we find ourselves in, because I believe we ourselves choose the circumstances of our lives in order to grow spiritually.
Seen from the other side, experiences allow us to move forward and this is only possible if we are willing to let go of everything that no longer has meaning for our lives. Staying in anger, despair, resentment, etc., always means a heavy burden and the past will not affect us. We are the creators of our future, let us choose wisely what we want to be.
2) Parkinson's disease
This disease is caused by a lack of dopamine in neurotransmitters and leads to a restriction of voluntary movements, tremors and stiffness. Patients lose their individual facial expression and the natural character of movement when walking. Depressive states often occur, although the loss of facial expression often hides a sense of humor. Although the cause of the disease is unclear in most cases, some causes are known that can cause the disease. In the area of voluntary movements, the basic problem is the initial activity, which, for example, when getting up from a chair or moving forward, relies on the action of gravity. (Gravity is the main energetic influence affecting the base chakra).
A major feature of the mind, which often occurs before the onset of illness, is a loss of motivation. I have found that many patients were under-motivated and often relied on a strong partner or family member to do everything for them. Unfortunately, the slowness that accompanies this illness leads others to be tempted to take over basic tasks. This is best avoided wherever possible.
Esoterically, these diseases signify a closed crown chakra with little self-awareness and a wide open base chakra representing reliance on the outside world for security.
Once the disease has manifested itself, it is difficult to motivate any change in the established way of life, but it is necessary to try wherever possible. I believe that with a greater understanding of the spiritual side of man, we will perhaps be able to prevent the occurrence of this disease. However, prevention is very difficult, because the sign of success is the absence of symptoms.
3) Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia is a disease that affects thinking the most, making it very difficult for a person to live in a rational world. The disorders include auditory hallucinations, paranoid, divergent thinking, word associations and delusions. Doctors believe that in this case there are disorders of chemical processes in the brain, which may be associated with a certain type of upbringing.
From an esoteric perspective, the etheric body of the crown chakra is hypersensitive, so it acts as an antenna that receives messages not only from the higher self, but also from the immediate environment and the collective consciousness. The crown chakra is very wide open and a person is not able to act rationally with the stimuli they receive. I believe that the main fault lies in the connection between the intuitive right and the logical left brain.
I have found that many schizophrenic patients have well-developed thinking skills from an early age, but they come from families where free creative expression is punished by strict norms and high demands. These factors create very tight boundaries for the young mind, leading to obsessions, often manifesting in hobbies that require considerable anxiety, such as collecting stamps.
During puberty, when the natural need to break family ties arises, creativity is already suppressed and the only way out of the situation is through the crown of the head. From an esoteric point of view, this is a tightly closed base chakra, not allowing good grounding, and a wide open crown chakra. If it is possible to talk to the patient, he should be guided to limit his spiritual and intellectual activities and to engage more in the tasks of everyday life, especially those connected with the earth, i.e., work in the garden or on the farm. This will help to ground the stimuli while still increasing the freedom of creative expression.
4) Epilepsy
There are two main types of epilepsy: grand mal (large epileptic seizures) and petit mal (small seizures). Both types are related to disturbances in the brain's electrical activity. In the former, seizures with loss of consciousness and convulsions occur, while in petit mal, there are occasional lapses of consciousness. Both types can occur without a clear cause, although there may be a family history of the condition. Grand mal often occurs after a head injury or birth trauma, and the trigger is usually stress.
Petit-mal seizures, which occur more often in children, can be triggered by flashes of light that form the boundary between light and darkness. Examples include flickering television lights, intermittent light, light seen through the handrail of an escalator, flashes of light between individual trees seen while driving, or dim light at dusk. Many people who suffer from petit-mal seizures are very sensitive to atmospheric changes and can indicate the arrival of a thunderstorm even when it is still miles away.
They are also very aware of the emotional atmosphere of other people in the room. They perceive it through their solar plexus, and the tantrums are a means for them to escape situations. Many adults use daydreaming as a similar tactic to escape situations that are too difficult for them.
Whatever type of epilepsy it is, I believe that spiritually it is a disruption of the stability of the connection between spirit and matter, and that during a seizure, a person's life energy is split between the energies of this three-dimensional world and the four dimensions found in other spheres of being.
The energies in the base chakra are poorly connected to the earth, and this shift in energy can be similar to the groggy state that occurs just before falling asleep. Exercises that provide better grounding and a desire to be here, on the earth, can help alleviate symptoms.
5) Senile dementia
This disease causes atrophy or thinning of the cortex, the outer layer of the brain. It is characterized by memory loss, emotional instability, insomnia, loss of judgment and logical thinking, delusions and often a loss of personal integrity. In many cases, the person becomes childish and needs constant care and supervision. Spiritually, it can be observed that many of these people have been very pragmatic throughout their lives, relying more on logical thinking than on their feelings, which they repressed: they controlled themselves emotionally and physically. It seems that dementia brings out the child inside, along with all the feelings that have been repressed, and thus the balance is rebalanced from being stuck at one extreme to the other, and the disease allows patients to leave this earth much more easily.
Recommendations on how to harmonize the crown chakra
1) Sit or lie down in a position that is comfortable for you to meditate. Take off your shoes and loosen any tight clothing. Make sure your back and head are well supported and that your arms and legs are not crossed. Place your hands comfortably. Take three deep breaths, letting go of all stress and any muscle tension – starting from the soles of your feet and working your way up to the crown of your head. Let all tension go into the ground, leaving your body heavy, relaxed and at peace. Imagine yourself in a place where you feel safe, a place you know or have only dreamed of. There is perfect peace and quiet.
Begin to become aware of your surroundings with your inner sight, hearing, smell, and touch. When you are ready to continue, look up at the energy that represents your higher self —it may have a specific form, color, or be made up of something completely abstract.
Allow the energies of your crown chakra to rise and merge with this form. Feel your mind clear and imagine the will of your higher self transcending your daily affairs and filling your mind with peace.
Now bring the energy down through the crown chakra to the base chakra, allowing it to flow through every cell of the body, replacing disharmony with peace. When the energy reaches the base chakra, allow it to flow through your feet and into the earth, where it will connect with the will of Mother Earth.
Imagine these two energies intertwining and then rising together through the base chakra to the crown chakra and up again to your higher self. Continue to allow these energies to circulate between your higher self and Mother Earth, passing through your body as its receiver. You are now fully present, and in the “presence” of your Creator. Enjoy this feeling for a moment. When you are done, bring the energy down from your higher self to the crown chakra and down from Mother Earth to the base chakra. You can imagine this as the closing of a flower. When all the petals are closed, surround yourself with white or golden light so that you can continue with your daily activities.
Use this exercise whenever you feel like you have left your path or when you feel disconnected from Source.
2) The color purple or magenta can be used as a means of balancing the chakras, either through the clothing we wear or through visualization.
3) Seek peace and joy in life and take ten minutes every day to sit quietly and replenish your energy.
4) Be at peace with yourself and with the whole world.
